Exciting. Shall we have writers/SamB on air? :D

It's great for me to try my hand at this more than once since I'm a writer in my spare time and all that <3 It helps to see whether people like my stuff and if I should keep going.

Yes, if the writers want to come on air and read their own stories that would be fabulous. But if they choose to not read aloud or don't have the ability to do so (No mic, evil sister who hogs the computer, work that night, etc) one of the co-hosts of the event will read it for them.

Turned out a bit different than I planned, hope you like it. :p

The coincidence

It was a beautiful day when I walked to school. I felt like I was the only one who had to walk, everyone else had a car. My parents thought it was unnecessary, I could spend my money better.
I was so deep in my thoughts, I nearly walked by my school. It was Thursday, Biology first. I went to the room, sat down and sank back into my thoughts. I didn’t see or hear my teacher coming in.
“Carry?”.
“I think she’s sleeping or something”, someone said laughing.
“Hey”, my teacher said angry.
Then someone touched my shoulder. I looked around and saw everyone looking at me.
“Well, you just earned yourself an extra lesson after school. Make sure you pay attention now or it will become more than just one”.
“Great”, I thought.
This was like the longest day ever, it just didn’t want to pass by. After school, when everyone went home, I walked back to my Biology room.
“You’re late”, my teacher said.
“I’m sorry”, I replied.
“Anyway, here is something to do, I’ll be right back”.
Then she left the room. I went to my regular spot in the class and sat down. I looked at my tasks. Some questions. I took out my book and was done very soon. My teacher was still gone so I took out my iPod and listened to my favorite song. After a while the battery was empty and it switched off.
“This just isn’t my day”, I thought.
I stood up and walked around the room. It was really boring. Suddenly I heard music coming from somewhere.I opened the door and looked around. I was pretty sure that the music was coming from the room at the end of the hall. Slowly I went there, the music got louder.
“Stop!”, someone yelled inside the room.
“What now?”.
“I told you to do it like last week, what is that?”.
“I’m sorry, I forgot.”.
“You have to practise more or I’ll kick you out of the club, I told you. You can go now, I’ve had enough today. You better practise.”.
Someone was coming to the door so I stepped back quiet. I wanted to go back inside my Biology room but it was closed.
“Damn”, I thought.
“Can I help you?”, someone said.
I turned around and a boy stood next to me.
“I was just walking around and now the room is closed.”.
“I see. There’s a teacher in the room down the hall, he should have a key to that room.”.
“Thanks.”.
“No problem… Oh, I’m Jay.”.
“Carry. Thanks again, I better go before my teacher comes back.”.
“Cya”, Jay said and left.
I asked the teacher to open up, went inside and waited for my Biology teacher to come back.
“Sorry, that it took so long”, my teacher said when she came back.
“Are you done?”.
“Yes, here.”.
“Good, you can go now. And make sure you sleep enough next time.”.
“Okay, bye.”, I said and left.
The week after this I stayed again after school. I didn’t know anything about him but I was hoping to see Jay again. I was walking around, waiting.
“Hey”, someone suddenly yelled.
I turned around. It was Jay. I waved when he came to me.
“What’s up?”, I asked.
“I’m kinda upset but nothing worth talking about”, he answered.
“Oh, what happened?”.
“I don’t know if I should… you know what, I’ll tell you. I got kicked out of the DJing club. My parents will be really angry when I get home.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, I had some idea of making my own DJ club anyway. Where do you live, if you need a ride, I can take you home.”.
I found out that he lives really close to me and that’s how I ended up in his car. We talked about interests and such when he drove me home. Jay told me he loves DJing as a hobby and now that he got kicked out of the club he wants to start something on his own, he just needed a keyboard player for his idea.
“I can play keyboard”, I said.
“Really? Since when?”.
“10 years, my parents thought it might be helpful someday.”.
“That’s great, would you help me tomorrow? I just need a little inspiration. I planned on mixing in keyboard stuff in some simple song I made.”.
“Sound great, why not.”.
“It was nice to talk to you”, Jay said when we arrived at my house. “…Hey, maybe I could take you to school tomorrow”.
“You would do that? Would be awesome.”.
“Sure, see you at 7.20? I’ll wait here. And after school we can work on my idea.”.
“Thanks, I’ll be there”.
The next day we went to Jay’s place after school. He showed me what he already prepaired and it sounded really good.
“I’ll play some melody, it would be great if you could try to play it on keyboard”, Jay said.
“Sure, I’ll see what I can do.”.
Just about an hour later it sounded even better.
“I know this sounds crazy but… would you make something for the upcoming talent show with me?”, Jay asked.
“Like playing keyboard?”, I asked.
“Only if you want to of course. It’s just that… I’ve been working on an act for the talent show so long but then my DJing teacher kicked me out of the club. It would be so great if you would help me. It’s going to be fun. I think you’re a great person, we can become good friends.”.
“I’d love to”, I said smiling.
The talent show was getting closer and closer until we already had our time on stage.
“I’m so excited. The whole school is here”, I said.
“Me too but hey, just have fun, that’s the most important thing.”, Jay said.
After we were through with out performance the whole crowd was clapping. I felt that this was the beginning of something big.

The dream of becoming a DJ

Music, is there any other word in the English dictionary that captivates so much attention? I have wanted to be a DJ for most of my life. It all started when I was watching MTV, a college party was playing and I saw people dancing and were enjoying them selves. Wicked tracks where playing one after the other I wanted to know what or who was the mastermind. Then the host said, “DJ- Chamex is raising the roof!” I was amazed someone could do all that.
Many years pasted and my dream of being a DJ was still alive but dyeing slowly. I used to perform at coffee shops and other small events but nothing major. I was going all around the place looking for a gig to get me off the ground and back standing. When I wasn’t looking for a gig I was usually practicing for me to become better and better. I used to go to sleep with an empty heart thinking my career will never pick up. Then one day I was reading the news paper and noticed that there was someone looking for a DJ to spin some tunes at their night club I quickly got dressed and ran to the night club. On arrival I noticed there were several other people here for the jobs...
I suddenly knew this would not be as easy as I thought. The manager then came out and said, “The only way we are going to find out who is going to be working here is to have a contest!!!” With that said we started with the first runner up. As I waited for my turn, I was thinking about what type of music I would play and in which manner I would do it. Then suddenly the manager said, “DJ-Khodra, you’re up.”
As I walked to the DJ both fear filled my heart, Thoughts flooded my mind. Once I started playing my hard work and pation went into the try-outs. It went on for about 15minutes then it came to an end. The manager then told us,” all of you did well, but we can only have one of you. You will all come back here in 2 days.”For the 2 days I was very worried that I would not make the cut.
“It was hard but I finally came to a conclusion.”The manager said. As I shook in fear I wondered if it was going to be me. Then he began talking “the winner is DJ…………….Khodra!!!!!!!!!!” I was embraced with happiness. The manager then told me “your job starts tomorrow.” I replied “yes, sir.”I then went home to practice and prepare for my first day of work. I said to myself “I am finally getting to where I want to reach.” When I got to work the next night I had a great time doing what I could do best and, watching the people enjoy themselves was a reward in its own way. From that day I really knew dream do come true but in its expected time.

Charlie couldn’t remember a time when he’d felt more...well, he didn’t really know. Words seemed to be failing him at this precise moment. But he was sure it would take a whole lot more than one word to sum up how he was feeling. Everyone was rushing around him like never-ending Spaghetti Junction traffic, which would be making him dizzy had he not been urged to sit down and have a drink. What was it he was drinking again? Lizzy – or was it Missy? Or maybe even Jessie? He couldn’t remember - Anyway, What’s-her-name-at-the-bar had told him a what’s-it-called would help his nerves a treat. Charlie wasn’t buying it. Truth be told, he wasn’t nervous about his stint later on that evening. But he was having just a tiny panic attack.

“Blue,” prompted Mia. “Blue! For goodness’ sake, Blue, quit overreacting and take a look at these.” He looked up, frowning. Mia raised her eyebrows and gave a little sigh of relief before hurrying off again.

“Overreacting,” Charlie grumbled to himself. “I’m not overreacting. You try DJing when your headphones have gone missing and the spare ones don’t even fit properly!” He heaved the box onto his lap aggressively and stared at the expanse of black. There were wires everywhere, winding around each other and the pieces of plastic, as if strangling them. Charlie noted that his head felt strangely similar right now. He picked up a pair of headphones, holding them up for size before discarding them carelessly onto the chair next to him. They bounced slightly, the foam and fabric cushioning the fall.

None of them were the same. It wasn’t going to be the same. His head told him that it made no difference, but his heart told him that he wasn’t going to be able to perform like usual tonight – he was going to mess up and everyone in the audience would be able to tell.

His anger turned to sadness. He was nothing without his headphones. His Blue Raspberry headphones, given to and engraved for him by his best and oldest friend, Alfie. He’d learnt in those headphones, got his name from those headphones. DJ Blue, Alfie had called him jokingly, the first time he’d tried to create a mix. It had stuck. A pang of emotion washed over him as he realised just how much he missed him. If only there had been something there to cushion Alfie’s fall from the top of the Rooftop Bar in La Genoa Aires that drunken night. The thought of drinking suddenly repulsed him and he pushed his no doubt alcoholic drink out of sight.

Charlie was a great DJ; that was a fact even he knew. The proof was in the hundreds of people who came to the Interscope Lounge every Friday to hear his set. But what an audience often doesn’t realise is that to be a good DJ, your heart has to be in it. And tonight, Charlie’s heart found it hard to concentrate on the music. He was now towering metres above the crowd, positioned at the DJ decks. People below were dancing; some in groups, some on their own, waiting for a potential date to get enough courage to make the first move. Some were even dancing with their eyes fixed on Charlie. He couldn’t work out whether that was a good or a bad thing; whether they thought he was a nice bit of eye-candy or were wondering what on earth was wrong with him tonight. But that thought was quickly pushed out of his mind by yet another replay of that night. He could hear the sirens in the distance, hear the panic in the voices of people who were beginning to crowd around. He could feel the same chill creeping round his body – he didn’t know if it was due to the cold or pure fear – and could feel the same ache in his legs as he bent down by Alfie’s body to protect and comfort him. This had happened countless times after the accident, but recently had been pretty scarce. He certainly wasn’t used to it when he was DJing.

He forced his mind to snap into the present, and was confronted by confused faces and muffled voices down below. There was no music playing. The owner of the club appeared, grabbing Charlie by the shoulder and turning him to face him.

“What’s going on up here? We’ve got a crowd to please you know!” he said, his voice reflecting both annoyance and angst. This was not welcome in his club, but also very out of character for Charlie.

“S-Sorry,” Charlie whispered. He frowned. “Just give me a minute.”

He turned around to face the audience again and picked up his microphone.

“Sorry, everyone. I guess I’m feeling...a little blue today,” he said with a little laugh and a weak smile. A ripple of laughter from the audience echoed round the club. “There’s something I’d like to play to you. I wrote it with my best friend, and although it was never meant for public listening, I’d like you to hear it.”

The crowd had gone crazy. The owner need not have worried; both his club’s and Charlie’s reputation had gone sky-high. Charlie felt like a little weight had been lifted off his shoulders, but he still just wanted to be alone. It was raining outside. He pulled his jacket on, lifting the collar up round his neck, dug his hands into his pockets and walked purposefully towards the exit, his eyes down to avoid making contact with anyone. Today he couldn’t even be bothered to use the staff exit.

He suddenly recognised Mia’s voice calling out to him. Mia had been there for him since, well, forever really. She’d been his shoulder to cry on. He stopped abruptly and turned to see Mia sopping wet, pulling his headphones out from inside her coat.

“I found th-” she began, but he’d already pulled her into the tightest bear hug.

Next Top DJ

'Mikey , you're on in 10' said my manager Scooter.

I'm Dj MikeyMike...
I'm 25 years young and a struggling artist at the time this story is being told.

I always had dreams of being the next top DJ in the world , well small people can't fill out big dreams..
well this was what I was told by 17 other agent interviews I had been to in the past month.

It all seemed to be going wrong , when I finally decided to give it one more go .. I saw an ad in the paper for a local DJ needed to spin at a small downtown club

I figured one more shot at fame before sinking into a life of business papers and tall offices buildings just like my father had been wanting me to do for the rest of my long lonely life.

I filled out the form and gave it to the clubs owner
he said I needed to be there at 8:30 pm on saturday night.
It came time to show up and I thought this was going to be a small little get together..

I have been a DJ for 3 years.. I'm not FANTASTIC but I don't suck.. ?

So I was kind of panicking ...just a bit..
Okay I lie I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK..

They called my name and I walked out , gave a wave to the crowd and noticed that I couldn't possibly turn back now...

Not because I was nervous but because if I left.. I wouldn't get my pay , no matter how crappy I may sound under pressure..

I spun for bout 4 hours , all these hyped teens and their friends actually enjoyed me ..
Which raised my confidence before I went to that Interview tomorrow.

After I did my final song I gave a shoutout to the owner of the club and the hostest of the party
and left for back stage..

I was stopped by a bigger man , wearing really baggy clothes.. he told me his name was Scooter he worked for a record company and was looking for DJ's who actually had talent.

He said I could be something big someday , and with his help he could make me amazing.
I agreed to meet him tomorrow..
This would mean having to ditch the interview I was supposed to go to..
So I figured why get rejected by 2 people in a day and just settle for one.

But to my surprise Scooter and his gang actually loved me ..
They agreed to let me sign with them and told me I would be performing everywhere.

Which brings me back to the beginning out our story.........

'Mikey you're on in 5 now !'

Well thats my que , I gotta bounce ..
oh by the way do you remember when I said Scooter said I would perform everywhere ?

Yeah well there is a HollyWood Club with 350 Celebs waiting to hear what I have in store for them.
Looks like things did work out after all !

The atmosphere was thick and heavy. vSiders stood around in anticipation, chatting and grooving to the smooth background music. Club Icon in LGA was hosting the biggest event of the season. The battle of all battles…the epic vDJ battle. I weaved my way through the crowd to catch a glimpse of the phenomenal vDJ Askillet…most commonly known simply as Askillet. He was undefeatable, but tonight could change all of that.
A hush came over the crowd. I looked around to see what had caused the short silence. vDJ T-Mixx had entered the DJ booth across from Askillet. It was about to go down. My heart began racing. T-Mixx, my BFF was going to battle Askillet for the title of Best vDJ. This could make or break his career. Taking a deep breath I wormed my way through the crowd and to the bar and ordered a cherry highball. I needed to calm my nerves. My vSis UniqueDee came up beside me and I ordered her one too.
Colin08, the owner of Club Icon, and the promoter of the event jumped atop the bar and announced that the competition was about to begin. Mixx was up first being the challenger. I held my breath as he put his bright blue headphones on and began his mega-mix on the turntables. He didn’t miss a beat as he spun one record then mixed in the next. Next thing Askillet echoed a scratch on his own turntable and the battle began. The two went back and forth for the next ten minutes. Each hyping the crowd with their crazy blends of beats and popular hip hop tracks.
It was getting down to the wire when T-Mixx pulled out his secret weapon. He dropped a new mix of a never been released Wocka Flocka Flame track. The crowd went crazy!!! vSiders began wildly dancing, bobbing their heads, and waving their hands in the air. I couldn’t help but smile. Mixx was so much better than he led on. I looked across the room at Askillet. He had an appreciative smirk on his face and that’s when he dropped the oldest hip hop track I ever heard and mixed and scratched like it was no other. He spun around, bobbed his head, paused the track for effect and started it back up. The hairs on my arms stood up. The crowd was pleased as well as they shouted and started jumping and yelling, “Go vDJ! It’s my vDJ!” My eyes lit up and knew at that moment that hip hop, vDJing, and Askillet was here to stay.
Colin announced the winner. By unianimous decision Askillet remained the champ. I went over to T-Mixx as he emerged from the vDJ booth. His eyes were sad and all I could do was give him a hug. Askillet approached us and shook T-Mixx hand.
“So what crew you with?” Askillet asked.
“None,” Mixx replied.
“You are now,”Askillet slipped him his vCard, “Give me a call. You got some pretty good skills. Just a bit more practice and you may just be almost as good as me,” he flashed a big Kool Aid smile.
Mixx’s eyes lit up, “Really?”
“You held it down,” Askillet confirmed.
“Thanks, man. This is awesome. Good battle.” Mixx replied and I could tell he was at a loss for words.
Askillet nodded, “Talk to you soon, man,” he replied and disappeared into the crowd.
I turned to Mixx and gave him another hug, “I knew you could do it,” I told him.
“Thanks, Lil. Thanks for coming too.”
“Of course. “ I smiled at him and then noticed his vgf weaving through the crowd to get to him, “Here comes Vamp. “ I gave him another hug then returned to Colin and Dee.
Askillet began mixing tunes and the club goers had begun to dance and party the night away.
“This was a good event,” I told Colin who silently agreed.
“It was,” Dee agreed.
I looked around at the packed club and realized that not only did I just witness the most amazing vDJ battle, but that Club Icon had made history and as its name suggested had become an icon in LGA history. Suddenly feeling excited and happy to be a part of this history I began doing the Funky Chicken. Dee broke into the Crump-a-Go-go and we danced the rest of the night away.
Legend
